Milla's Story

Milla was born prematurely at 24 weeks. She weighed only 1lb 6oz / 665g. She and her twin sister, Louisa, stayed in hospital for almost 6 months before being able to come home.
As a result of her extremely early birth, Milla developed cerebral palsy and has a life limiting disability. She has a severe form of cerebral palsy, a condition caused by an injury to the brain. In her case, Milla has spastic quadriplegia and is unable to control her muscles, resulting in being unable to sit, stand, walk or talk. She requires a wheelchair and 24 hour a day care. In addition she is unable to eat normally and has to be fed via a tube into her stomach.
Milla is 8 years old. Despite her difficulties, Milla is a very happy, smiley, loving girl who brings a lot of joy to her family and friends and everyone who meets her.
Milla's Dad Tony's Fundraising
Since 2007, Milla's Dad, Tony Frobisher, has raised over £27,000 for four charities, Bliss (premature and sick baby charity), Scope (the UK leading charity on disability - with a focus on cerebral palsy), Make-A-Wish (giving special wishes to children with life threatening or life limiting conditions) and Acorns Children's Hospice (which provides respite and end of life care for over 700 children with life limiting / terminal conditions in the West Midlands, Worcestershire, Herefordshire and Gloucestershire. Milla receives regular respite stays at Acorns n Worcester).
Tony has cycled and run from Worcester to Liverpool and back, Worcester to London and back, Worcester to Dublin and back in 6 days, as well as climbing Kilimanjaro (5,895m) and trekking to Kala Pathar (5,450m) near Everest base camp as part of a number of challenges aimed at raising funds and awareness of cerebral palsy and disability in general.
In April 2013 Tony ran the London Marathon and in May 2013 cycled from John O'Groats to Lands End in 10 days for Make A Wish.

International Recipes from Every Corner of the World
Tony, his wife Rini, Louisa and Milla live in Worcester, where Tony works at an adult English language school, Kingsway English Centre. His job brings him into contact with many different people from all over the world. This led him to come up with an idea of creating a charity cookbook with recipes suggested by former students at the school and other friends from all over the world.
The cookbook includes over 75 delicious recipes from more than 40 countries, each with a theme of 'Comfort Food from Around the World'. The recipes reflect what the contributors like to cook and eat when they are in their own country. The recipes are easy to make and incorporate a wide range of ingredients and include main courses, desserts and snacks / cakes.
Tony received recipes from countries as far away as Venezuela, Japan, Angola and the Philippines. Many other recipes were sent from all over Europe. Tony also received some celebrity support (see contributors page), including from David Cameron, the British Prime Minister who sent in a recipe.
The cookbook is now being printed. It will be available at the end of March 2013 and will be sold to raise money for two charities that have supported Milla, Tony and his family; Make-A-Wish UK and Scope.
Make A Wish provide unique wishes to children who have life threatening conditions or severed disabilities. These wishes range from meeting a favourite sports star or pop singer, to the provision of specialist equipment and holidays of a lifetime. Make A Wish put some happiness into the lives of children who face pain, discomfort, stress and sadness every day of their lives.
Scope are the UK's leading disability charity, who provide a voice for all disabled people; campaigning for their rights and providing support to help enable more independent and fulfilling lives for people with disabilities. They have a particular focus on the needs of people like Milla, who have cerebral palsy.
